About LunchMe
LunchME is an AI-powered app for meeting people in real life — no cold DMs, no awkward intros. It matches you with people worth grabbing coffee or lunch with: mentors, people in your field (or a totally different one), or just someone new. You send an invite, meet up, and let the conversation do the rest.
It also has a pay-it-forward twist: when someone invites you out, they pick up the tab, and you earn credits to invite the next person.
Project Context
I joined as a product designer and frontend contributor (React Native), working across both product and engineering.
Early on, the product was swipe-based — closer to a dating app pattern. I was part of the team that pushed for a pivot to an agent-based UX, where an AI assistant does more of the matching and conversation-starting work instead of leaving users to browse and swipe. I designed and helped build core pieces of that shift: the conversational onboarding flow, the daily recommendation feed, and the agent chat interface itself.
By the MVP stage, the app had around 3,000 users.
What I Built
Conversational Onboarding
Replaced forms with a chat-style flow — the AI asks, you answer, no dropdowns.
Daily Recommendation Feed
One curated match a day instead of an infinite swipe stack.
Agent Chat
The core interaction — AI surfaces context and nudges the conversation forward.
